some very nice neutrals

Hey guys, to make up for the lack of posts I whipped this up last night, really feeling neutral shades as we enter Spring. The best thing about them is they look amazing teamed together or mixed with pastels, florals and block colours.

I have to run to work so I'll cut this short but I promise I'll put a more interesting post up later this week! Enjoy.

Splendoured.

images courtesy of Triple J

For all of you who have no idea what I'm talking about when I keep rambling about Splendour in the Grass, I thought I'd put up a few photos so everyone can understand my severe withdrawals post-splendour!

Those faces in the trees were amazing - on the long walk out to the amphitheatre, you approached these trees and the faces were projected on to them. That was pretty cool, but it gets a lot cooler - they moved! Very creepy and funny at the same time, the faces would laugh at you, smile, wink, look around and generally freak out passers by. And yes, there was a boat in the middle of a dam with dj decks. It was called Ibeefa, and there was a makeshift beach set up on the banks of the water and djs played there all day and night. Sweet.

Even these photos don't do it justice really, but I gave it a shot!

divine embellishments

divine embellishments

Seeing as the cash flow is low at the moment I decided to play with this Polyvore thing everyone else seems to be using. VERY fun, I can definitely see a lot of time being wasted here in the future.

Anyway, I just put together a few vague outfits all featuring embellished or textural items. I need a pair of leather shorts for spring and I've been lusting for a faux fur vest for months and months now. As for the shoes, I want want want those black & gold geometric booties!

Just ending up a pretty lazy weekend at home, I'm lucky enough to have glandular fever at the moment (yippee) which is seriously affecting my stamina - went to a dinner at Mimi's last night and only lasted til about 11.00 before I had to take myself home to bed. Ugh. On the up and up though, which is good.

shoes, shoes, shoes...

all images from Wittner's website

If I had endless amounts of money I would definitely be putting it towards hugely expanding my shoe collection - there are so many amazing pairs floating around at the moment I find myself constantly swooning over pairs I can't afford (because I can't just choose one I want them all!)

I've posted a collection of shoes I've recently lusted for from Wittner. Keeping in mind all these pairs are just from Wittner - you can imagine how much money I would need if I were to buy all the shoes I wanted from every store! Eek.

I love all the lace up shoe booties around at the moment - so cute and comfortable too! And being winter I'm very into natural leathers and suede - they have a warmth about them that I love.

So the job hunting continues... I need an income to support all my wants and needs!

field day, anyone?

Field Day 2011

Ah, August. The last month of winter, all the stores are filling with impractical summery clothes and everyone is longing for Spring. Another thing that happens in August - New Years planning. If you have any intention of doing something remotely organised and fun on new years, generally you must start getting your ass into gear months and months ahead. This pisses me off. How am I meant to know what I want to do in 5 months time for just one night?

All the hype I find generally results in a really average night when it comes to the actual nye. Maybe thats just me, but I can't honestly look back at the past 5 nye's I've had and say they were good nights. On the most part, they were pretty shit.

Every year I enter the Falls festival ballot only to not be offered tickets, or worse yet, be offered tickets to Marion Bay when all my friends were lucky enough to score Lorne tickets. Epic Fail.

After all of this bitching however, I believe I have found the answer. Field Day. Now this, I am keen for. What a line up! And in a beautiful setting by the sounds of it. Like Parklife, but different! I'm all motivated off the back of my trip up to Queensland for Splendour in the grass, and a trip to Sydney for new years sounds like my cup of tea. Now, all there is to do is round up a good crew!

wonderful people, amazing food

Last night my lovely lovely unofficial step-sister cooked a feast for a bunch of lovely ladies, and me.

Those nights, surrounded by fun, unpretentious, lovely people, amazing food and delicious red wine really invigorate the soul.

Despite feeling completely average in the health department, I've spent today sending out job applications to places I actually would like to work at (that's rare in Adelaide, I can tell you!) and basically feeling motivated about life in general. Good things.

So thankyou Mimi, Carly, Tegan, Bri, Thilini, Kristjana, Nicky and Simone for a night of good company & memories.

Post-Splendour blues

Well, I just got back from Splendour in the grass... what can I say? ah-mazing.

a.m.a.z.i.n.g!

I don't know how I'll ever be able to top that - it has got to be the best music festival Australia has had. I saw a multitude of amazing artists, among which are The Strokes, Empire Of The Sun, Florence & The Machine, Delphic, Tame Impala, The Vines, Passion Pit, Hot Chip, LCD Sound System, Angus & Julia Stone and many more. Plus I got to stomp around the massive venue in my gum boots which was a lot of fun!

Anyway, back to reality now. I'm currently sitting in Nona Burden's art studio where there is an open day for SALA week (South Australian Living Artists Week). I've been spending the time on the Top Shop website, flippantly filling up my 'shopping bag' with any items I desire. Unfortunately this trip to Top Shop will not result in any purchases what with my wallet being significantly lighter after 5 days at Splendour. Never mind!

There's no harm in dreaming. Anyway, I thought I'd pop up a few images of the objects of my desire for others to swoon over as well. Enjoy!
